This is a sketch that I did while hanging out with my Mom and Daughter in Paris, France in 2023. I was sitting in front of the Samaritaine shopping area after visiting the Louis Vuitton store for an amazing graphic arts exhibit. It was a sunny but cold day in January. Apparently it was fashion week and there were a bunch of models walking around with tropical flowers in their hair. They were attempting to do some sort of photo shoot, but it was so cold. they were all wearing super short dresses and pretending that it was summer. I kept thinking that the photographer would have to edit out all of the goose bumps on those freezing super skinny women. I was thinking that if they just had solid colored hair and skin then the goose bumps would not show. It was such a weird random thought. I started sketching these beautiful freezing women, just to capture the scene and the memory. After, I took the image into photoshop and changed the skin and hair to be solid colored. Also, this area has a super Art Nouveau, Art Deco vibe to it. The Samaritaine department store is absolutely amazing and gorgeous. I wanted to capture the vibe of the flowing Art Deco, Art Nouveau line style. It is so fluid and romantic. Of course, the tropical flowers truly throw the piece, because tropical in winter in paris? That does not fit. However, they were wearing the flowers so I left them in. I believe that they were Hibiscus flowers, probably fake, or they probably would have frozen. Anyway, that is the story of this piece. I actually have about 10 more sketches that go with this look, but I have not edited them yet. I will get to it eventually.
